At St. Peter’s, we want our children to really enjoy maths and feel secure in their understanding as they move through their primary school years. Ultimately, we want to encourage a positive attitude towards the subject to enable the children to be confident in maths as they then progress to secondary school and beyond. Through identifying how we all use mathematical skills in our daily lives, we want our children to embrace the maths we see and experience all around us whether it is through play, problem solving or necessary calculations. We intend to do this by recognising the importance of maths in the wider world and to experience success. We are committed to developing the children’s curiosity and resilience for the subject, as well as their ability to reason and problem-solve.
