Geography

Our Geography curriculum is designed to develop children’s curiosity and fascination about the world and its people.

We encourage pupils to investigate a range of places to help develop their knowledge and understanding of the Earth’s physical and human processes. At St Peter’s we equip pupils with the knowledge about diverse places, people, resources and natural and human environments. We help pupils to develop geographical skills including: collecting and analysing data, using globes, maps, photos and digital resources. We provide opportunities for pupils to be able to apply their geographical skills to confidently communicate their findings using the appropriate vocabulary.

We want pupils to be able to apply questioning skills as well as effective presentation techniques. We also want pupils to be able to express well-balanced opinions, showing a good understanding about current issues in society and the environment.

Teaching should equip pupils with knowledge about diverse places, people, resources and natural and human environments, together with a deep understanding of the Earth’s key physical and human processes. By revisiting these areas of learning regularly children will remember more, know more and understand more.
